TeAda Productions is excited to announce CreAtive Healing Lab (CHL) which will take place from October 2025 through June 2026. As part of this series, all-star guest teaching artists will facilitate workshops that combine the arts, social justice, and collective healing. The goal of CHL is to be a sanctuary-third place for community to gather, process current events, imagine sustainable futures, community-build, and heal through sharing space and creating art.
The 3rd workshop of the series is titled “Embodying Emotion” and will be led by VORA.
About the workshop: "Embodying Emotion” is a somatic body based workshop that asks the question: how can we allow all emotions to move through our bodies? The foundation for Embodying Emotion is based on data that shows trauma is created when emotions have been repressed, suppressed or stopped from reaching their full expression. Without release, these emotions are then stored in the body as trauma and eventually become chronic illness.
In this workshop, we will use simple somatic techniques to explore how to allow all emotions to move through us without resistance, shame or guilt. We will focus on how to recognize in the body when emotional sensation is present, name it, tune into it and allow it to reach expression in a healthy way. Activities will be both individual and partner if participants are willing.
About the facilitator: VORA is a sonic and visual storyteller, integrating movement, visuals and sound in performances to illuminate themes of mysticism, deep ecology, and humanity’s relationship with nature. They are the founder and co-director of Water&Power, an artist-run community space in arts-underserved South LA serving emerging artists. They also curate VISCERA, an experimental performing arts show that bridges the gap between DIY and traditional performance art. www.vora.studio
